MIAMI, Florida — A 36-year-old Miami man was arrested after police said he struck a woman in the face with a brick during a domestic dispute last month.
According to a Miami Police Department arrest report, the incident occurred just before 8 a.m. on Jan. 6. Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a boyfriend who was refusing to leave a property. When police arrived, they found a woman with visible facial injuries. Miami Fire Rescue transported her to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The woman told officers she had been walking her child to school and, upon returning home, saw a couple arguing on the property. She said she attempted to intervene. According to the report, Kevin Dell Johnson approached her aggressively. Fearing for her safety, she swung a baseball bat but did not make contact.
Police said Johnson then picked up a brick and struck the woman on the right side of her face, causing a swollen cheek and apparent broken teeth, before fleeing.
Detectives later conducted a photo lineup, and the woman identified Johnson. He was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated battery with a weapon causing great bodily harm. Bond has not yet been set.
