Austin, Texas — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched investigations into three major school districts over student walkouts protesting immigration enforcement, escalating tensions between state leaders and local educators.

According to reporting by the Texas Tribune, Paxton’s office is investigating North East ISD in San Antonio, Dallas ISD, and Manor ISD, following a similar inquiry into Austin ISD. The attorney general alleges that school officials may have failed to ensure student safety and limit classroom disruptions during demonstrations linked to national protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“I will not allow Texas schools to become breeding grounds for the radical Left’s open borders agenda,” Paxton said in a statement, warning that officials who unlawfully facilitate protests could face legal consequences.

The protests followed national outrage after recent killings involving federal immigration officers. Hundreds of Texas students participated in walkouts in Austin, San Antonio, Waco, and other cities.

Gov. Greg Abbott has warned districts could lose funding, and the Texas Education Agency said schools found to have facilitated protests may face state intervention.

Paxton is seeking district records on student absences, internal communications, security procedures, and use of public funds. No findings have yet been announced.
