TRENTON, NJ — The final poll before New Jersey voters head to the polls shows Democrat Mikie Sherrill maintaining a commanding lead over Republican Jack Ciattarelli in the state’s gubernatorial race. The John Zogby Strategies survey, completed Monday, found Sherrill at 55% and Ciattarelli at 43.4%, with 1.6% supporting minor party candidates.
Pollster John Zogby reported that Sherrill holds 95% of Democratic voters and leads among independents, 54% to 42%. Ciattarelli retains 91% of Republican voters but underperforms among married voters, holding only a narrow 51%–48% lead. Sherrill’s strongest support comes from women, where she leads by 27 points, and among first-time voters, where she holds a 64%–34% advantage.
Zogby said Sherrill’s coalition includes liberals, women, and younger voters under 45, while Ciattarelli draws strength from conservatives, men, and rural regions.
The New Jersey race, along with Virginia’s gubernatorial contest, is being closely watched as an early test of public sentiment toward President Donald Trump’s administration amid declining approval ratings.
