U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) is one of only four House Republicans backing a petition to force a floor vote on releasing Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in jail in 2019.
The resolution, spearheaded by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), would require the full release of Epstein case files. Lawmakers supporting it say they already have enough signatures to pass, but allies of Donald Trump have opposed bringing the measure to the floor. House Speaker Mike Johnson adjourned Congress early to prevent a vote before recess.
Boebert, the only Colorado Republican to sign, has previously called for a special counsel to investigate Epstein. She joined Massie, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) in supporting the petition. All four Colorado Democrats in the House also signed on.
The Trump administration announced in July it would not share additional Epstein records, fueling divisions among Republicans. Epstein’s ties to powerful figures, including Trump, have made the case politically fraught.
Boebert’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
