Authorities say at least 80 shots were fired during a mass shooting at a house party in Hickory, North Carolina early Sunday, leaving one person dead and 11 others injured. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office reported that over 100 people were attending the party, many of them teenagers from nearby high schools.

The shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. at a home on Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View community. Deputies and Hickory police responded to reports of multiple gunshot victims. One person died at the scene; another remains in critical condition, with several others still hospitalized.

Investigators believe multiple shooters were involved, but no arrests have been made. The North Carolina Bureau of Investigation has joined the probe as authorities work to determine a motive.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene as partygoers ran for cover when the gunfire erupted. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
