Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican presidential candidate, has reaffirmed his commitment to withdraw from elections in states that disqualify former President Donald Trump. In a “NewsNation Prime” interview, Ramaswamy declared his intention to “nullify” elections in Maine and Colorado, the two states that have removed Trump from their ballots. He criticized these actions as deeply unconstitutional, blaming individual secretaries of state and a “cabal of judges” for making these decisions without proper trials or procedures.

Maine and Colorado’s disqualification of Trump is based on their interpretation of the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause, relating to the Capitol events on January 6, 2021. While the Supreme Court has not ruled on this clause’s application, Trump’s actions on that day are seen by some as fitting the definition of “insurrection or rebellion.”

Ramaswamy urged fellow Republican candidates to join his boycott. He expressed disappointment in the silence and inaction of candidates like Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and Ron DeSantis on this issue, suggesting their inaction indirectly supports these unconstitutional acts. He emphasized the need for Republicans to stand on principle against such election interference, stating, “If they remove Trump’s name, my name is off too and I call on Ron DeSantis, and Nikki Haley and Chris Christie to do the same thing. Their words are cheap. Action speaks louder than words.”
