Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is embroiled in controversy following allegations of a romantic affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade. Evidence presented in Nathan Wade’s ongoing divorce proceedings by his estranged wife, Jocelyn Wade, includes a credit card statement showing Nathan Wade booking flights for both himself and Willis to destinations like San Francisco and Miami.

This follows accusations last week by Michael Roman, a co-defendant in Willis’ election interference case against former President Donald Trump, alleging Willis and Nathan Wade’s “improper” relationship. Roman claimed the relationship involved Caribbean cruises and trips funded through payments made to Nathan Wade for case work.

Willis’ attorney denounced the subpoena served to Willis in the Wade divorce case as harassment. Willis, who previously praised Nathan Wade’s credentials and legal experience, has not publicly responded to the latest accusations. Her office plans to file a response by February 2, with a hearing scheduled for February 15.

The implications of these allegations on the high-profile racketeering case against Trump and others, where both Trump and Roman have pleaded not guilty, remain uncertain. CBS News legal analyst Rikki Kleiman suggests the possibility of a different prosecutor’s office taking over to avoid any perceived impropriety. The case continues to generate significant interest, with Trump’s attorney Steven Sadow highlighting the allegations on social media.
