Roger Stone’s attack against Casey DeSantis, the wife of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, has sparked a huge backlash on social media, with some users saying the longtime Donald Trump ally has crossed the line.

Stone is the political strategist who was convicted in 2020 on charges including lying to Congress and obstructing justice and witness tampering. He was later pardoned by Trump in his last weeks in the White House. Stone called Casey DeSantis a “c***” on Wednesday night for mentioning her children during her husband’s campaign trail.

Casey DeSantis has not only supported Ron DeSantis’ bid for the White House, but also played a role as strategic adviser to her husband, taking part in several campaign events.

The comment was made by Stone, who is supporting Trump’s bid for a second presidential term in 2024, on X, formerly known as Twitter, in response to a post by failed Republican congressional candidate Mike Crispi.

“Casey Desantis campaigning: ‘I have a 6, 5 and a 3 year old’ ‘I have a 6, 5 and a 3 year old’ ‘I have a 6, 5 and a 3 year old’ ‘I have a 6, 5 and a 3 year old’ ‘Did you know I have a 6, 5 and a 3 year old?'” Crispi wrote on X. It was in response to a post by Casey DeSantis saying she and her husband were “earning every vote.”

“SeeUNextTuesday,” Stone wrote in response to Crispi’s comment, using a slang expression for the vulgar insult. It is a swearword that is considered misogynistic. Newsweek contacted DeSantis’ 2024 campaign for comment by email on Saturday.

Regarding the slur, there is no direct connection to Trump himself, whose veiled swipe at Ron DeSantis did not go down well with supporters during a GOP summit in Florida. The two White House hopefuls both claimed the state as their turf during the Florida Republican Party’s Freedom Summit in Kissimmee on Saturday. Trump remains the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican nomination, while DeSantis—initially expected to be Trump’s biggest rival after winning reelection as governor in a landslide last year—remains a distant second and has struggled since launching his campaign in May.

Stone’s comment sparked an immediate backlash on the platform, where users wrote about “the unacceptable behavior from Team Trump,” including using a despicable slur against Casey DeSantis.

Others called Stone’s behavior trashy and disrespectful and asked if the Trump supporter was “actively trying to ensure that even if Trump is nominee we won’t vote for him,” one wrote. “Because it’s working,” the same user added.

“Only the best people. Roger Stone, a longtime adviser to Donald Trump, called Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey a c**t. Being too cute by half, he used the slang term ‘SeeUNextTuesday’,” wrote an X user on the platform.
