Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, may receive an offer to lead a federal agency in 2025. However, this offer would not be from the party he is running for.
On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed his alignment with Kennedy’s conservative views on Covid-19 policies and vaccines in an interview with Clay Travis on OutKick. DeSantis suggested that Kennedy could be a potential pick to lead a federal agency with medical jurisdiction.
During the interview, DeSantis was asked if he would choose Kennedy as a running mate, to which he responded that he would rather have Kennedy focus on leading a federal agency. He also expressed concern that Kennedy’s views may conflict with the GOP base on certain issues.
While Kennedy remains a long shot for the Democratic presidential nomination, he has been vocal about his controversial views on vaccines, questioning their effectiveness on multiple occasions. In recent weeks, he faced criticism from liberals for suggesting that Covid-19 was engineered to be less lethal to certain ethnic groups. Additionally, he has been a critic of Anthony Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, stating that he would pursue legal action against him if any crimes were committed.
