The Metro Nashville Police Department’s Office of Professional Accountability recently undertook an investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of documents related to the Covenant School shooter. This investigation involved the use of electronic device forensics to trace the source of the leak. The shooter had left behind several personal writings, including journals, a suicide note, and a memoir, as revealed in court documents.

Having exhausted all possible leads without identifying the source of the leak, the department has decided to conclude this specific inquiry. Consequently, all officers involved in the investigation have been reassigned to their regular duties. This development indicates the challenges law enforcement faces in managing sensitive information in high-profile cases, especially in the digital age where the unauthorized dissemination of information can be complex to trace.
