An employee at a robotics company in South Korea, in his 40s, was fatally injured by a robot at a pepper sorting facility.
The robot, mistaking the man for a box of vegetables, crushed him while he was examining its sensor operations. The accident occurred late at night during a routine check before a test run of the machinery. The man was caught by the robotic arm and pressed against a conveyor belt, leading to fatal injuries.
In response to the tragedy, a representative from the plant has advocated for the creation of more rigorous and secure systems to avert such incidents, highlighting the critical need for enhanced safety protocols in workplaces utilizing robotic equipment.
