In a recent ruling, a Carson City judge denied a proposal by reproductive rights groups to place a state constitutional right to abortion on the 2024 ballot. The judge cited the initiative’s overly broad scope and a “misleading description of effect,” along with the presence of an unfunded mandate.
Following this decision, reproductive rights advocates, led by the political action committee Nevadans for Reproductive Rights, are preparing to appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court. The petition, aimed at securing reproductive rights in the state constitution, faced opposition from the Coalition for Parents and Children PAC, leading to this legal challenge.
