During his trip to Wisconsin, President Joe Biden unequivocally stated that former President Donald Trump was responsible for leading an insurrection, referring to the events of January 6. He remarked, “It’s self-evident. You saw it all. Now whether the 14th Amendment applies, I’ll let the court make that decision. But he certainly supported an insurrection. No question about it. None. Zero.”

This statement follows the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling, which determined that Trump’s actions on January 6 violated the 14th Amendment, thereby disqualifying him from holding elected office in the state. President Biden, while acknowledging Trump’s role in the insurrection, chose not to delve into the specifics of the legal argument or the court’s decision, instead deferring to the judiciary’s expertise and authority in such matters.
