Life expectancy fell by an entire year in the first half of 2020 as Covid-19 swept through the country, a drop not seen since World War II, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday. Racial minorities suffered the biggest impact from January through to June. Black Americans lost nearly three years of life expectancy and Hispanics lost nearly two.
