A U.S. intelligence assessment has found that the recent strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear sites delayed its nuclear program by only a few months, contradicting President Donald Trump‘s claim that the facilities were “completely obliterated.” According to CNN and The New York Times, the classified report by the Defense Intelligence Agency found the attacks failed to destroy core components, such as centrifuges, which remained intact in underground facilities.
The analysis, based on a U.S. Central Command battle damage assessment, suggests the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan strikes did not significantly diminish Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, much of which was moved beforehand.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the leaked report “flat-out wrong,” accusing the intelligence community of trying to discredit Trump. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the operation, insisting the bombs hit their targets and inflicted devastating damage.
Congressional briefings on the strike are expected later this week.
