WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump intensified rhetoric against Iran on Easter Sunday, issuing a blunt and profane warning tied to a looming deadline over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route.
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F—in’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.” The remarks followed earlier warnings that “all hell” could be unleashed if Iran does not reopen the waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz has remained effectively closed since the conflict escalated in late February, contributing to rising global oil prices. Trump has pushed for rapid reopening, while also pressuring U.S. allies to take a more aggressive role in the region.
According to reports, the U.S. has already targeted Iranian infrastructure, including a major bridge believed to support military logistics. Iran has rejected Trump’s threats, accusing the U.S. of planning unlawful attacks and warning of retaliation.
Diplomatic efforts have continued through intermediaries including Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, though no breakthrough has been reported. European leaders, including France’s Emmanuel Macron, have expressed reluctance to join offensive operations.
