Nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults view Donald Trump‘s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” unfavorably, according to a new KFF Health Tracking Poll released Tuesday. The sweeping tax and spending package narrowly passed the House last month and has become the centerpiece of Trump’s second-term agenda.

The poll found 64% of Americans oppose the bill, including majorities of Democrats, independents, and non-MAGA Republicans. Support remains strong among MAGA-aligned Republicans, 72% of whom back the legislation. Only 35% of the public views it favorably.

Respondents demonstrated limited familiarity with the bill’s contents. While 58% knew it would boost border security funding, only around half were aware it would increase the federal deficit or cut Medicaid and food assistance.

KFF President Drew Altman noted that public opinion could shift with more information, even among supporters. The Senate is currently revising the bill, which Trump hopes to sign by July 4.

Tensions around the legislation have grown, including a high-profile rift between Trump and Elon Musk, who criticized the bill as a “disgusting abomination.”
