Christopher Quaglin, a supporter of former President Trump, was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. Prosecutors described Quaglin as one of the most violent rioters, who assaulted numerous officers and called for “Civil War.”

Quaglin criticized Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, during his sentencing, stating, “You’re Trump’s worst mistake of 2016.” His 12-year sentence is among the longest given to Capitol rioters. Over 1,400 people have been charged and more than 1,000 convicted since the attack.

Judge McFadden condemned Quaglin’s actions, stating he attacked his “fellow blue collar Americans” and called his actions an “outrage” and a “disgrace.” He noted that Quaglin had planned for the attack and brought gear to the Capitol, contradicting his claims that the riot was mostly peaceful. McFadden concluded, “You were anything but peaceful on that day. You’re a menace to our society.”
