House Democrats joined Republicans on Tuesday in voting overwhelmingly to block an impeachment resolution against Donald Trump over his unauthorized strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. The vote signals broad resistance—even within the Democratic Party—to pursuing impeachment over the issue.

Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) introduced a five-page resolution accusing Trump of “Disregarding the Separation of Powers” and “Devolving American Democracy into Authoritarianism” by bypassing Congress’s war powers. He argued Trump failed to seek authorization or show an “imminent threat” to justify the strikes.

The House voted 344–79 to table the resolution. Of those, 128 Democrats sided with Republicans to kill the measure, while 79 voted to advance it.

Among those voting to table were House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), reflecting party leadership’s reluctance to engage in another impeachment battle.

The failed vote comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, though a fragile ceasefire between Iran and Israel remains in place.
