Wisconsin state prosecutors have filed 10 new felony charges against Jim Troupis, a lawyer for President-elect Trump in 2020; Kenneth Chesebro, an advisor to Trump’s campaign; and Mike Roman, Trump’s Election Day director. The charges, filed in Dane County Circuit Court, allege the men conspired to falsely claim Trump won Wisconsin as part of a “fake elector” scheme.

The defendants were previously charged in June with felony forgery. Prosecutors now accuse them of using forged documents to defraud the 10 Republican electors who cast their votes for Trump. Each charge carries a $10,000 fine and up to six years in prison.

The case centers on allegations that the men created a document falsely declaring Trump had won all 10 of Wisconsin’s Electoral College votes in 2020. Similar charges have been filed against Trump allies in other battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Nevada.

Kenneth Chesebro, who pleaded guilty to related charges in Georgia, is now seeking to invalidate his plea. Meanwhile, Jim Troupis has filed multiple motions to dismiss the Wisconsin charges, arguing no crime was committed.

Trump, who lost Wisconsin in 2020 but regained it in 2024, has pleaded not guilty to related charges in Georgia.
