Despite the settlement, hosts like Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham continue to feature and discuss controversial topics.
Nicole Hemmer, a Vanderbilt University professor, and author, believes the settlement will only make hosts like Alex Jones more cautious about what they say.
According to radio host Erick Erickson, conservative media will likely be hesitant to embrace election denialism claims during the 2024 election. However, despite the Dominion lawsuit, Fox News remains as dominant among conservatives today as it was after the 2020 election.
Fox’s audience will quickly forget the settlement and will not affect the network’s ratings. Megan Duncan, a Virginia Tech communications professor, believes that Fox News’ audience is unlikely to be swayed by criticism of the network, and the network will continue to prioritize keeping its audience happy.
