White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified Wednesday that President Trump has not committed to deploying U.S. troops to Gaza, despite comments he made during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. When asked about U.S. military involvement, Trump responded, “We will do what is necessary,” without further explanation.

Leavitt rejected speculation that the U.S. would engage in another Middle East conflict, emphasizing that the administration would work with regional partners on Gaza’s reconstruction but would not fund it directly.

Trump also proposed resettling Palestinians outside Gaza and suggested a potential U.S. takeover of the territory, calling it a future “Riviera of the Middle East.” He described this as a “long-term ownership position” but did not specify who would inhabit the area. The feasibility of such plans remains uncertain, with officials estimating Gaza’s rebuilding could take up to 15 years.
