The White House has paused deportation flights for members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua after a federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign, press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Wednesday.

“We don’t have any flights planned specifically, but we will continue with mass deportations,” Leavitt told reporters, attacking U.S. District Judge James Boasberg for overstepping his authority.

President Donald Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 over the weekend, ordering the immediate deportation of Venezuelan migrants linked to Tren de Aragua. However, Boasberg halted removals for two weeks, prompting White House officials to argue the president has full legal authority to deport “foreign terrorists.”

The administration ignored Boasberg’s ruling for two flights already in the air, claiming the order was invalid once the planes reached international waters. The judge gave the Justice Department one more day to explain the deportation flights.

Meanwhile, Republicans have called for Boasberg’s impeachment, with Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) filing articles of impeachment just hours after Trump’s social media post criticizing the judge.
