The White House is pushing back against a Wall Street Journal report that claims President Donald Trump was informed in May that his name appears multiple times in the so-called Epstein files. The Journal cited senior administration officials who said Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy AG Todd Blanche disclosed the mentions during a White House meeting.
According to the report, Trump’s name was included in the documents as “unverified hearsay” alongside other high-profile individuals linked to Jeffrey Epstein. The White House says the story is false.
“The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep,” said Communications Director Steven Cheung in a statement to Scripps News, calling the report “fake news” and comparing it to “the Obama Russiagate scandal.”
The controversy intensified after the WSJ also reported Trump once sent Epstein a lewd birthday letter in 2003—an allegation Trump denies. He has since filed a defamation lawsuit against the Journal’s parent company and its reporters.
Facing pressure from both critics and supporters, Trump ordered Bondi to seek the release of Epstein-related grand jury records. However, a federal judge in Florida denied that request on Wednesday.
