Security threats involving former President Donald Trump continue, more than a month after an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally in July. On Thursday, Trump abruptly ended an interview with NewsNation at the U.S. southern border after his security team warned him of potential danger.
“We’re in danger standing here talking,” Trump told NewsNation’s Ali Bradley. “Security doesn’t want me standing here. They don’t want you standing here either.”
The incident followed an announcement by Arizona law enforcement of a manhunt for Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66, who allegedly threatened to kill Trump in a social media post.
Before the interview ended, Trump expressed his openness to an endorsement from independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., calling it an “honor.” Trump acknowledged his longstanding respect for Kennedy but did not confirm if Kennedy would join him at a campaign event in Arizona.
