Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance have agreed to debate on October 1, marking a significant event as early voting begins in some states for the general election. CBS News announced the debate on X, proposing four possible dates, and both candidates quickly confirmed October 1 as the agreed date.

Walz confirmed the debate by reposting CBS’s announcement, stating, “See you on October 1, JD.” The Harris-Walz campaign echoed his message, indicating Walz’s readiness for the debate, while Vance accepted the invitation and suggested an earlier debate on September 18.

The October 1 debate will be moderated by CBS’s Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan and is one of several debates planned in the lead-up to the November 5 general election. This event follows recent shifts in the race, with President Joe Biden exiting and Vice President Kamala Harris leading the Democratic ticket.
