The 34 felony guilty verdicts against former President Donald Trump have sparked violent rhetoric against prosecutors, the judge, and jurors. Advance Democracy reported an increase in threatening posts on pro-Trump platforms, with users sharing purported addresses and calling for violence. Posts included statements like “Dox the Jurors” and calls for divine retribution against jurors.
Far-right groups, including the Proud Boys, issued threats, with one post declaring “War” and urging followers to fight. An NBC News analysis found that Trump’s posts on Truth Social frequently incite anger and violence. Instances include threats following the FBI search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate and the release of former President Barack Obama’s address.
Daniel J. Jones, president of Advance Democracy, warned of a “dangerous erosion of democratic norms.” He emphasized the need for officials to counteract disinformation and violence inspired by Trump. The surge in violent rhetoric highlights the threat posed by disinformation and partisan extremism, endangering judicial personnel and undermining the legal system’s integrity.
