There has been a rise in the use of personal data by both US and foreign spy agencies for intelligence purposes. This has raised concerns about potential privacy risks for everyday citizens.

To address these concerns, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is urging US spy agencies to catalog and safeguard the data they acquire to protect civil liberties.

While commercially available data can offer new opportunities for spying on foreign adversaries, it can also leave US personnel vulnerable. Therefore, there is a need for stronger legislation to safeguard the personal information of Americans.
