Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Friday that the United States will host a new Qatari air force training facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in southwestern Idaho. The site will house Qatar Emiri air force pilots and F-15 fighter jets as part of a broader U.S.-Qatar defense partnership.

“The location will host a contingent of Qatari F-15s and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase lethality, and interoperability,” Hegseth said during a Pentagon meeting with Qatari Defense Minister Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The Trump administration has signed the agreement authorizing the facility’s construction.

Mountain Home Air Force Base already hosts Singapore’s F-15SG jets, and officials say the addition of Qatar’s squadron will strengthen joint training and operational coordination. Hegseth praised Doha’s role in regional diplomacy, calling Qatar “a core part of what has unfolded in Gaza” and commending its support for U.S. forces at Al Udeid Air Base.
