The U.S. State Department has revoked visas from six foreign nationals who made offensive social media comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Officials said the individuals — from Argentina, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and Paraguay — expressed approval or made derogatory remarks following Kirk’s killing.

“The United States has no obligation to host foreigners who wish death on Americans,” the department said in a post on X, adding that visa revocations are part of enforcing immigration laws. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said such actions defend “our borders, our culture, and our citizens.”

The agency shared screenshots of the comments, including one post calling Kirk “a racist” and another stating, “when fascists die, democrats don’t complain.” It’s unclear whether any of the individuals were in the U.S. at the time of the revocations.

Critics, including the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, condemned the decision as a violation of free speech, arguing that noncitizens “should not fear punishment for their opinions alone.”
