The United States has approved a nearly $330 million military package for Ukraine, including satellite communications services for Starlink terminals and support for Patriot air defense systems, the State Department announced Friday.
About $179 million will go toward spare parts, software updates, communications equipment, and other items to sustain Ukraine’s Patriots, with U.S. and contractor representatives expected to assist training and oversight in Europe. Another $150 million will fund Starlink service extensions and logistical support.
“This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe,” the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said.
The deal follows Thursday’s approval of $825 million in arms, including 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition missiles, hours after a deadly Russian strike on Kyiv. Germany also pledged two Patriot systems under a new weapons arrangement with NATO.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal thanked Washington, calling the Patriot systems “vital” for protecting civilians and infrastructure from Russia’s ongoing air assaults.
