ProPublica reports that Truth Social’s parent company, Trump Media, has hired coding contractors in Mexico despite Donald Trump’s “America First” rhetoric and recent calls to penalize companies that outsource jobs. A company representative confirmed the hiring of two Mexican contractors, while accusing ProPublica of exaggerating the story.
Insiders reportedly view the outsourcing as inconsistent with Trump’s commitment to U.S. jobs, with a whistleblower claiming CEO Devin Nunes supports hiring only foreign contractors. Trump Media declined to disclose wages or total foreign contractor numbers, though a board member defended the practice, citing the company’s global operations.
Trump has recently threatened companies like John Deere with tariffs to deter outsourcing, though economists warn such measures could lead to higher prices domestically. Meanwhile, Trump is currently embroiled in a lawsuit with Truth Social co-founders who allege he tried to deprive them of their shares.
