Former President Trump’s favorability has risen to 46%, while President Biden’s has dropped to 37%, according to a Gallup survey conducted from June 3-23. This marks a 4-point increase for Trump since December and a 4-point decrease for Biden during the same period. The survey noted that Biden’s and Trump’s favorability ratings were closely matched leading up to the 2020 election and tied twice last year.
Other findings from Gallup show that 46% of Americans believe Trump has the personality and leadership qualities a president should have, compared to 38% who said the same for Biden.
The results come ahead of a presidential debate between Biden and Trump in Atlanta. Trump faced criticism for his performance in the first 2020 debate and admitted he interrupted Biden too much, according to The New York Times’s Maggie Haberman.
A New York Times/Siena College poll found Trump ahead of Biden by 4 points among likely voters, with Trump at 48% and Biden at 44%. The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s average of national polls shows Trump leading Biden, 44.6% to 43.9%.
The Gallup poll surveyed 1,005 respondents and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
These poll numbers have been reflected in the latest Media Bias Fact Check Election simulation, which shows large gains in Trump’s win probability.
