Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s former lawyer, is among 18 people indicted in Arizona for illegally attempting to claim the state’s 2020 electoral votes for Trump. The indictment names Trump as an “unindicted co-conspirator.” Stemming from Trump’s efforts to overturn Biden’s victory, the indictment was reached on Tuesday and unsealed on Wednesday.
The Maricopa County Superior Court indictment names 11 defendants, with seven names redacted. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that these names would be revealed after all defendants had been served. Giuliani’s name is redacted, confirmed by his spokesperson, Ted Goodman, who criticized the prosecution as political.
Another redacted name is the 2020 chief of staff, a position held by Mark Meadows in the Trump White House. Trump, Giuliani, and Meadows are co-defendants in the Georgia case, charged with a racketeering conspiracy to overturn Biden’s victory. They have pleaded not guilty.
Another redacted defendant is Trump’s lawyer Christina Bobb, confirmed by Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung, who criticized the indictment as “Democrats’ weaponization of the legal system.”
The indictment alleges the defendants pressured the Maricopa Board of Supervisors, the Arizona Legislature, and then-Governor Doug Ducey to change the election results. The charges include fraud, forgery, and conspiracy.
