A Reuters/Ipsos poll shows 45% of Americans approve of President Trump’s actions in his first week, a 2-point drop from earlier in the month. His disapproval rose 7 points to 46%, reflecting division over executive orders on immigration, federal oversight, and military policy.
Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement was opposed by 59% of respondents, while 51% disapproved of his move to close federal DEI offices. However, 44% supported ending DEI hiring practices.
His immigration policies also sparked debate, with 48% approving and 41% disapproving of his new deportation measures. Analyst Kyle Kondik noted Trump’s numbers are not historically strong, but voters largely back him on economy and immigration.
The poll, conducted Jan. 24-26 among 1,034 adults, has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
