Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Donald Trump in May that his name appeared in the unreleased files related to Jeffrey Epstein, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal. Department of Justice officials also warned the files contained unverified allegations about Trump and other high-profile individuals.

While Trump has called the files a “hoax,” the revelation adds fuel to speculation about his ties to the convicted sex offender. Sources say FBI Director Kash Patel privately acknowledged Trump’s name was listed in the materials, though both Patel and White House spokesperson Steven Cheung have strongly denied any wrongdoing.

“This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media,” Cheung said. Patel called the report “smears and lies.”

In a joint statement, Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed Trump had been briefed on the contents, but maintained that a July 6 memo reflects the DOJ and FBI’s official conclusion: no additional prosecution or investigation was warranted. The administration has since filed to unseal grand jury transcripts related to the Epstein case.

Trump previously denied appearing in the Epstein documents, though the two men were known to be friends before a public fallout.
