President Donald Trump called on tech billionaire Elon Musk to intensify his efforts to cut government spending and downsize the federal workforce, posting on Truth Social that Musk should be “more aggressive” in his role with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“Elon is doing a great job, but I would like to see him get more aggressive,” Trump wrote Saturday. Musk responded on X: “Will do, Mr. President.”

DOGE has already led to sweeping changes across federal agencies, claiming $55 billion in savings by canceling grants, selling assets, and eliminating contracts. Over 75,000 civil service employees have accepted buyouts under Trump’s initiative.

The aggressive cuts have sparked backlash, with 14 states filing lawsuits against DOGE, arguing its actions are unconstitutional. Concerns over Musk’s influence and potential conflicts of interest have also surfaced. While Musk is a senior White House adviser, a court filing states he has “no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself.”
