Trump’s latest directive requires Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to outline military readiness standards declaring transgender troops unfit for service, citing concerns about “unit cohesion.”
Experts refuted the fact sheet’s claims about lengthy recovery times for transgender medical procedures, noting most patients recover within weeks and do not rely on narcotics long-term. Critics argue this policy parallels past exclusions targeting marginalized groups, including women and Black service members.
