President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the White House will host a UFC fight as part of nationwide celebrations marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

At a rally in Des Moines, Iowa, Trump said the mixed martial arts event would be a full championship bout with 20,000 to 25,000 attendees and would be organized by UFC CEO Dana White, a longtime ally. “It’s going to be a championship fight, full fight,” Trump said.

The UFC event is one of many “America250” festivities planned, including reenactments at national park battlefields and a large patriotic festival on the National Mall next summer. Trump also announced plans for a “great American State Fair” tour and a White House “Signing Celebration” on July 4, when he will sign his legislative “big, beautiful bill” into law.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is “dead serious” about the UFC fight. The UFC has not yet confirmed its involvement.
