Former President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will not participate in a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, citing the advanced stage of the campaign and early voting as reasons. “There will be no rematch!” Trump declared on Truth Social, also stating that Harris would follow President Biden’s policies, leaving “nothing to debate.”
Trump reiterated that he had won their first debate in September, though polling and some Republicans disagreed. He referenced Sen. JD Vance’s performance in another debate, and despite claiming to lead in swing states, polling shows a tight race in key battlegrounds.
CNN and Fox News had proposed debates for later in October, which Harris accepted, but Trump consistently rejected the idea of a rematch. Harris and her campaign have been advocating for a second debate, insisting voters deserve more information before Election Day.
