President Trump on Sunday night accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of going “absolutely CRAZY” and warned that his actions in Ukraine could lead to the “downfall of Russia.” The comments, posted on Truth Social, mark some of Trump’s harshest rhetoric yet toward Putin.
“He is needlessly killing a lot of people,” Trump wrote, referring to Russia’s latest missile and drone attacks that killed at least a dozen Ukrainians. Trump also criticized Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming his rhetoric is “causing problems” and “better stop.”
While distancing himself from the war, Trump reiterated his claim that the conflict would not have happened if he were still in office. “This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War,” he wrote. “I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires.”
Trump has long pledged to quickly end the war in Ukraine if re-elected. His recent statements reflect a sharper tone as violence escalates in the region.
