President Trump said Tuesday that Jeffrey Epstein “stole” young female employees from Mar-a-Lago’s spa, including Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers who later died by suicide in April.
Speaking aboard Air Force One after returning to Scotland, Trump elaborated on a longstanding claim that he expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for poaching staff. “[Epstein] stole her,” Trump said of Giuffre. “She had no complaints about us, as you know. None whatsoever.”
The claim has not been independently verified. A request for comment from a former lawyer for Giuffre went unanswered.
Trump said other spa workers were also recruited by Epstein. “I have a great spa … and people were taken out of the spa, hired by him … And other people would come and complain,” he said.
Trump’s remarks expand on comments made Monday, when he said he told Epstein to stop hiring Mar-a-Lago staff and expelled him after he ignored the warning.
When asked if he might pardon Ghislaine Maxwell, Trump said Friday he hadn’t considered it but acknowledged, “I’m allowed to give her a pardon.”
