President Donald Trump announced Monday that Hunter Biden and Ashley Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection, ending the extended security provided under former President Joe Biden’s executive order.
“Effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden, who has 13 agents, will be taken off the list,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump criticized Hunter Biden’s 18-agent detail while on a trip to South Africa and argued the cost to taxpayers was excessive.
The decision follows Trump’s previous revocation of Secret Service protection for former officials, including Mark Esper, John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Secret Service protection typically ends for a president’s children once they leave office, though Trump and Biden both extended protection for their adult children for six months.
The move comes amid Republican criticism of Hunter Biden, who was pardoned by President Biden last year.
