At a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Donald Trump suggested renaming Election Day in November to “Christian Visibility Day.” This proposal comes as a response to conservative backlash against the International Transgender Day of Visibility, which coincided with Easter this year. Trump criticized President Joe Biden for acknowledging the event, claiming it showed disrespect to Christians.

The controversy began when Biden issued a proclamation recognizing the Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, leading Trump to demand an apology for Christians. Trump escalated his critique at the rally, questioning Biden’s decision and promising a significant Christian turnout on the proposed “Christian Visibility Day.”

The backlash extended beyond Trump, with figures like Caitlyn Jenner and Speaker Mike Johnson expressing their disapproval. Fox News host Lisa Boothe interpreted the timing of the transgender event on Easter as an attempt to undermine religious values.

The White House condemned the criticism as “hateful” and “dishonest,” emphasizing Biden’s commitment to unity and respect for all Americans, regardless of their faith or identity. The administration highlighted Biden’s own Christian faith and his refusal to exploit it for political gain.
