Former President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to bring about a change in Cuba’s leadership if he secures a victory in the upcoming November election. In a video message shared on Truth Social, Trump voiced his admiration and support for the Cuban people opposing the communist regime, hinting at a potential shift in policy towards Cuba under his administration.

Trump highlighted the dire situation in Cuba, noting the severe food shortages, energy blackouts, and political repression faced by its citizens. These issues have led Cuba to seek international aid, including from the World Food Programme, as it grapples with shortages of basic necessities.

Amid escalating protests and Cuba’s efforts to engage in talks with U.S. officials on previously unaddressed issues, Trump criticized President Biden’s approach to Cuba, labeling it as “weak” and contrasting it with his own stance, which he described as supportive of the Cuban people’s fight for freedom.

He emphasized the importance of “free and fair” elections in Cuba while alluding to his contested claims regarding the 2020 U.S. election. Trump’s commitment to the Cuban people includes a vision of a “safe, prosperous, and free” Cuba, along with a firm stance against the current communist leadership, advocating for the release of political prisoners and endorsing the Cuban people’s demand for change.
