President Trump has paused all U.S. military aid to Ukraine following a tense Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, White House officials confirmed Monday. The move increases pressure on Ukraine as it continues its war against Russia.
“The president has been clear that he is focused on peace,” a White House official said. “We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution.”
The U.S. has provided $65.9 billion in military assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s 2022 invasion, but Trump has yet to approve new aid since taking office. The pause comes as European leaders work on alternative support for Ukraine. During the Oval Office meeting, Trump accused Zelensky of “gambling with World War III” and being “disrespectful” toward the U.S.
