(Washington, D.C.) President Donald Trump has issued symbolic pardons to 77 political allies accused of efforts to overturn the 2020 election, according to Justice Department Pardon Attorney Ed Martin. The proclamation, posted Sunday on Martin’s X account, granted “full, complete, and unconditional” pardons to figures including Rudy Giuliani, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and attorney Sidney Powell.

Powell, who previously pleaded guilty in a Georgia election interference case, was one of several individuals charged at the state level. The pardons carry no legal effect, as presidents cannot pardon state crimes. None of the recipients currently face federal charges related to 2020 election activity.

The document, reportedly signed Friday, does not include Trump himself. Earlier this year, he pardoned more than 1,500 participants in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, including former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, convicted of seditious conspiracy.

The move underscores Trump’s continuing effort to recast the 2020 election, which he falsely claims was stolen from him despite multiple court rejections and audits confirming Joe Biden’s victory.
