President Trump on Thursday directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate ActBlue and other political donation platforms over alleged illegal “straw donor” schemes and foreign contributions. The White House memo accuses online fundraising platforms of enabling fraudulent donations that violate U.S. election laws.

The administration cited findings from three Republican-led congressional committees, which identified 22 alleged fraud schemes — nearly half with foreign connections — in recent years. Bondi has been instructed to “take appropriate action,” according to the directive.

ActBlue, a major fundraising platform for Democratic candidates, called the order “blatantly unlawful” and vowed to pursue legal action, saying the move is part of Trump’s broader effort to target political opponents. “This is Donald Trump’s latest front in his campaign to stamp out all political, electoral and ideological opposition,” the group said in a statement.

Democratic groups also condemned the order, accusing Trump of attempting to suppress participation in the democratic process.
