President-elect Donald Trump said he would “certainly” consider pardoning New York City Mayor Eric Adams, citing Adams’ strong stance against illegal immigration. Adams, indicted earlier this year on five counts to which he pleaded not guilty, drew Trump’s attention for his statements that New York City’s migrant crisis is “not sustainable.” Trump remarked, “I said light-heartedly he’d be indicted—and a few months later, he was.”
Trump previously called the indictment “suspicious,” questioning its timing after Adams criticized migrant policies. Adams, when asked if he’d accept a pardon, avoided a direct answer and referred inquiries to his attorney.
Recently, Adams discussed the indictment with Dr. Phil, claiming something “is just not right” with the case and vowing to fight for the city he’s served as an officer, senator, and mayor. He also expressed willingness to cooperate with Trump’s administration on deportation policies, breaking from other Democrats who oppose such efforts.
