During the CNN presidential debate, former President Donald Trump stated he would accept the 2024 election results if it is a “fair and legal and good election,” while reiterating discredited claims of voter fraud from the 2020 race. CNN debate moderator Dana Bash asked Trump three times if he would accept the 2024 results. On her third attempt, Trump responded affirmatively, conditional on the election being fair and legal.
Trump alluded to the fraud allegations from the 2020 election, suggesting a future news conference or another debate to discuss it further. Despite numerous dismissed or withdrawn legal cases by his campaign and allies, Trump has continued to propagate baseless claims of widespread voter fraud, raising concerns about his potential reaction to another loss.
When questioned about the January 6th Capitol riot, Trump did not condemn the violence nor apologize for his prior rhetoric. Instead, he emphasized respect for the U.S. during his tenure, contrasting it with international perceptions under Biden’s administration.
